Donations valued at $ 200,000 left in the recycling box outside a clothing shop run by the Red Cross in Denmark. The cash was found in plastic garbage under a pile of donated clothes.
There was a brief message left with the cash.
"To the Danish Red Cross, from a stranger. Had saved [money] in 40 years, "the contents of the message.
Officials at the charity shop was very grateful, but the Danish police asked the donors to report to law enforcement officials can ensure that money had nothing to do with any crime.
"It's not every day we get as much money as those found in a plastic bag in a pile of clothes," said Birgit Dam, secretary of the Red Cross branch in Tornved.
"(Message) in the white plastic bag and it is in large black plastic garbage along with some nice clothes," he said.
"And inside the bag there are 10 envelopes with a lot of money. Neatly arranged in envelopes, each with bound rubber, "said Dam.
Police hope the problem of "phantom money" is certainly its holdings so there is accurate information about its origin.
However, the Red Cross has so far not asked to hand over the money to third parties.
