Final versions of Internet Explorer 9 is officially released Tuesday, has been downloaded as many as 2.35 million people in the first 24 hours, but according to Microsoft, Internet Explorer 9 beta is only downloaded 1 million times on the first day of its release.
For the final version of Internet Explorer 9, when calculated within the hour there are as many as 98 000 downloads or 27 downloads per second.
"We want to thank all the people around the world to download IE9 and enthusiastic reception," wrote Ryan Gavin, a senior director in Microsoft's Internet Explorer IE blog.
However, the above values when compared with the Firefox browser, Internet Explorer 9 does not look quite impressive.
Firefox 3.5 only requires a few hours to reach 1 million downloads.
And a year earlier, Firefox 3.0 has been downloaded 8 million times in just one day.
In the near future Internet Explorer 9 will soon face competition from Mozilla Firefox, where the final version of Firefox 4 will be released March 22.
